THE "GIFT" OF MASSAGE

Massage
is possibly the oldest and simplest form of medical care. It
dates back to the Egytians whose tombs sometimes show paintings
of people being massaged. A Chinese book, dating back to 2,700
BC and called "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal
Medicine" also refers to "massage of skin
and flesh, and exercises of hands and feet" as the appropriate
treatment for certain aliments.
So,
massage has been around for a very long time!
When
I refer to the "gift" of massage, I am not talking
about giving a friend, partner or loved one a Gift in the form
of a free Massage Voucher. It does make for a very nice gift
- don't get me wrong, but it's not what I'm talking about.
The
ability of the massage therapist to provide a professional massage
for pain management and deep relaxation is, to some extent,
intuitive. Not
everyone can be a good masseuse. It is a "gift" that
comes from within and is steeped in the idea that a person's
body will talk to you through your gifted hands. Yes, you do
have to learn all the different strokes and sequences, but you
need something more - something intangible.
Massage
is not just about working with your hands. It's also about connecting
with the energy of the patient - not just physically, but through
your own energy. In this way, massage can sometimes have a profound
impact on the way it affects people. There can even be times
where massage elicits an emotional reaction - it can be that
powerful.
MASSAGE CREAMS
Massage
oils are often used, but they can get a bit messy from the therapist's
point of view. They tend to spill through your hands and onto
the floor! Not all massage oils or creams are created equal
either. Olive Oil may be great for cooking, but it is not the
best oil to use for massage and neither is Palm Oil. The #1
oil for massage therapy is pure Virgin Coconut Oil, because
it will treat your skin and faciliate the massage - all at the
same time.
So,
if you don't want spills and wastage but you do want the skin
care benefits of pure Virgin Coconut Oil, then check out the
Volcanic Earth range of moisturising, massage creams below.
All three are made from Virgin Coconut Oil and are all natural.

Before
I go, I'd like to extend our appreciation to Lotus
Health & Beauty here in Port Vila. As many of you probably
realise, Fresh Change Ltd. owns and operates Volcanic Earth.
It is Fresh Change Ltd. who is offering the certified
Massage Course that Nicole and Gloria just completed.
However,
as part of the Massage Course, each participant must attend
at Lotus
Health & Beauty for practical exposure on customer relations,
so far as it pertains to the beauty and therapy industry. Our
thanks go to Melanie and Natalie of
Lotus Health & Beauty for their willingness to be a
part of this important, localised program.
