Cellulite
is a collection of fatty tissue occurring in subcutaneous
layers of the skin that push against the constricting
fibres of connective tissue under your skin, resulting
in a lumpy appearance. Normally, if all is working well
in the system, waste products are removed from the body
and smooth curves result. However, when fats, fluids
and toxins are trapped deep in the epidural layer of
the skin, the connective tissue thickens and hardens,
giving a dimpling or rippled effect which we refer to
as cellulite.
A common
misconception is that cellulite only develops in women.
While women predominantly do get it on their thighs,
butt, abdomen and breasts, some men develop cellulite
on the neck and abdomen. Still, Cellulite is the enemy
of women all over the world. Factors such as estogen
levels, genes, physical fitness, excess weight, diet,
toxins, poor circulation, gender and age influence whether
a person will develop cellulite.
To get
rid of cellulite is tough. Liposuction can be effective
but in some instances, can make the problem worse. Exercise
and physical fitness are factors that are essential
in the treatment of cellulite. Good muscle tone can
help reduce the appearance of the condition. In addition,
taking proper care of your body is very important -
no chemicals or other harmful toxins in your skin care
regime. Another way to help treat cellulite is massage,
as this assists with circulation.
