businesses. All participants had to be young Vanuatu citizens,
working in a business or soon to start their own business. The
purpose of the workshop was to help these young people to grow
and make the business more competitive.
Volcanic
Earth's own retail shop in The Adventure Centre in downtown
Port Vila was used as a "model" business for practical
work, with four or five participants and a Body Shop Manager
visiting our store to reinforce the lessons particpants learnt
over the course of the workshop.
Our
vey special and heartfelt thanks go to Jeff Liew, a Pacific
Regional Sustainable Livelihoods Specialist with the UNDP Pacific
Centre in Suva; Paul Nalau and Agnes David of the Vanuatu Department
of Youth and Training; and finally, the Body Shop (Australia).
Well
done everybody and congratulations to Nicole, Gloria and all
the other participants!

Love
is in the air! Linda and I finally got married after having
lived together for the past ten years. Yes, that's Linda Trenkner,
one of the two directors of Volcanic Earth and what better place
is there to tie the knot than in beautiful Vanuatu. I don't
want to bore you with wedding pics, but I couldn't resist including
a few of them!

Our
deepest gratitude to Andrew and Debbie Hogarth, Sarah Sands
and her team at Events
Vanuatu, the women dancers from Banks, Brian and his warriors,
Judi Clelland of Cake
Fantasy and to all who made the effort to attend and share
our special day.
It's
no wonder Events Vanuatu took out the Award for Best
Presentation at this year's International Trade Show (Tok Tok
Vanuatu 2007). Volcanic Earth is proud to be a supplier of gifts
for Events Vanuatu weddings and special events. You're the best
- congratulations!
The
week after our own wedding, Linda and I attended a double Ni
Vanuatu wedding at Tamanu. This was a great honour for us, as
we were especially invited and were the only non Ni Vanuatu
in attendance! It was huge, with loads of people from the islands
of Melekula, Ambae and Ambrym. |
